Feta Cheese and Walnut Dip

The recipe

The white cheese used in Iran is essentially the same as Greek feta and it is traditionally eaten for breakfast with a flatbread.  This dish can be eaten at any time and the addition of the walnuts adds a lovely nutty, buttery flavour which goes well with the salty tanginess of the cheese.  Serve with a bread such as pitta.


  • 115g feta cheese (or feta style), cubed
  • 120g dried walnuts, broken
  • 50g spring onions, chopped
  • Handful fresh basil leaves
  • Handful fresh mint leaves
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • 65ml olive oil


Step 1

Place all of the ingredients into a food processor and blend to a grainy paste. Adjust the seasoning as required and serve.
