The recipe

Curry Powder is a British invention using spices from Indian recipes, but it is a combination that you wouldn’t generally find in India.  It is a spice mix that is really only used in Anglo-Indian dishes such as the soup Mulligatawny or Coronation Chicken.

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 2 tsp ground coriander
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper

Step 1

Mix all of the ingredients together and store in an airtight container out of direct sunlight, preferably in a dark cupboard.
